We're moving out on Friday. New buyers moving in.

We've now got a fault in a light switch in the downstairs loo - the only light affected. An electrician says that carpets upstairs will need to be lifted to access the wiring and therefore potentially all kinds of mess made, not to mention huge costs.

Would you leave it for the next owners? We've already exchanged...

You're supposed to complete with the place in the same condition as it was at exchange. Buyers are advised to be sure they are happy with everything before they exchange. And morally you should get this fault fixed of course.

Are you sure about the electrician's recommendation? I would get a second opinion before you do anything. It sounds a bit drastic to me, for the sake of one switch.
