Space between range cooker and base unit question please!

I have a range cooker and been told I need a minimum of 1cm gap between cooker and base unit.

Have googled and googled, there's lots of conflicting information about this.

I've allowed for a 1cm gap either side but need to put in a small panel in the corner for a small gap so have flexibility in either allowing the 1cm or ditching it.

Anybody know?????

Don't think we had 1cm - things would have got lost down there! New range cooker somyiu wouldn't expect the outside to get hot or anything...
