Ideal Kitchen diner size/smallest kitchen diner

Do you think it is possible to fit a kitchen diner in a 4m x 4.2m space. The utility room would be separate for washing machine, dryer, freezer, extra fridge and storage for things like the pasta maker! Im not sure I want to fork out for an extension with wobbly house prices...

Yes.
Unless you are the Von Trapp family.

I'd love a kitchen diner that big!

I've seen too many 4 bed newbuilds with a room 2/3 that size as the only dining space.

Yes that would work fine. I have 4.5 by 8 metres and it is very big with space for a couple of sofas, a large dining table, large island and lots of floor space between everything.

Ours is 4.5 x 5 I think and it works well. We have a kitchen down one side and a peninsula bench splitting the two, on the other side we bench seating and a table and bifold doors.
It's a good space.

Brilliant that is reassuring, we are not quite the Von trapps, and will save about £35k if we don't extend. The space looks like it will work me, and then we will have kitchen diner with doors out to garden plus utility and downstairs loo, separate sitting room, misc room (could be formal dining room, large study, teenage den or playroom), large hall and small boot room. Which I think is decent for a small 4 bed house. Thank you so much mumsnetters Flowers. I knew the vipers would have wise words!
