Im reading some old threads on here stating that building regs require one if its a new build/extension?
I don't like them and have always found them ineffectual so i don't really want one (plus they're UGLY!)
I can't find any info re the requirements for Building Regs - any experience?

Iff you Google "building regulations ventilation " you will find Approved Document F. Basically if you follow that guidance your BCO will sign it off. The regs for kitchens are something like 30litres/sec adjacent to hob or 60litres/sec elsewhere. So you can have a wall fan as long as it's powerful enough, obviously most of the ones sold for kitchens do comply.
