Just been quoted 1050 for sanding an10 by 11 foot, a 6 by 3 foot room and a strip of landing and been told it is a days work. Sounds like a lot to me!

Just for sanding? What about gap filling, staining and finishing? If they are included that sounds reasonable.

It includes varnish he didn't mention gaps!

I'm in the SE, paid £650 for 11 by 8 foot parquet floor to be repaired, sanded (4 grades of sanding, took 4 hours), gaps filled, edges done by hand and then oiled. The guy started at 8:30 and finished at 16:30 and didn't stop. Sounds like more than a days work but maybe our hallway was particularly grubby. It looks really great.

I paid about £450 for a 9x11 parquet floor, to be sanded gaps filled & finishing oil they also replaced a couple of strips by the hearth.
As pp they started at 8.30 & finished about 5pm, came back the next morning & did another coat of the oil.
