Is this fixable?

We've just had our kitchen fitted by a friend and (afaik) he's put two of the upstands on wrong. As he's a friend doing it for reduced rates we don't want to mention it so I'm hoping we can amend it ourselves, without damaging the plaster above if that's even possible? If it is possible what do we need to do?

I've attached a photo to get a second opinion on them, a few family members have said they'd leave them as is but I'd rather the front upstands went the width of the breast so there is no visible join.

Ideally we want the metal trim showing and the upstands moving across to hide the join.

Ooh it doesn't look great, does it? I'm afraid I can't offer any practical advice, but would definitely need it to be fixed as it'd really get on my nerves.
