Is there a list of what to do from this point? Completion is next Friday. We've already done a huge clear out and packed most of the house, will do a Royal Mail redirection, have notified broadband/tv. What else? Is the council informed or do we sort tax etc?

Sorting out council tax is your responsibility - you need to contact both old and new councils and let them know.

Sort gas/electric/water - let them know your completion date and be ready to take meter readings when you actually move out of the old place and into the new one.

Confirm things with your movers.

Pack a separate box with kettle and tea things - you'll need it!

Pets - do you have any? Boarding them or getting a friend to take them for a few days around moving date is a good idea.

Is the new house insured from exchange? It had better be!

No one does this for you, you must sort it all . with only a week and a bit you are tight for redirect so submit as soon as you have exchange. Broadband may also take longer.

On the day items are house insurance, car insurance, meter readings. All else can be done afterwards with the redirect.

We're moving in temporarily with family until our next house is ready for collection (5 parts of the chain).
