Advice on floor plan!

Happy Sunday evening folks,

After some advice regarding our new home. How would you configure the ground plan of this Victorian house.. the stair case separates the reception rooms. Would have the sitting room at the front or in the middle?

yes, but if you make the entrance to your house at the bottom of the stairs, then you aren't entering directly into any room. It would only be a small hallway, but you could shut the door to the outside before opening doors to any living rooms, unlike a house where the front door opens into the living room.

Oh I see what BackforGood means, you would actually change the location of the front door so that it's on the side of the house. Will confuse the bejesus out of the postie for a while but that's ingenious.

My old house had the exact same layout.
We used the back room as a day room and then used the front room after dinner.
