Does anyone have a dark dramatic bathroom?

I have a small windowless bathroom and don't much like the super clean all-white look unless there's a lot of light in a room. Am wondering about embracing the dark with black or nearly-black paintwork and some kind of lavish gold mirror. Tiled areas I would just stick to white metro with grey grout, and maybe a chequered floor. In my head it looks amazing but maybe the reality would be gloomy so I wondered if anyone had one?

Any other tips for making sad dark bathrooms a bit glamorous?

I think dark can be really nice, maybe a dark charcoal, midnight navy or dark teal. With slate grey accessories. I think black and gold will be uber tacky and a very unique taste, I'm sorry.

How confident would you feel with tile paint?

I'm about to do ours in very dark green, although we do have white tiles and two small windows.

Mine is small and east-facing so not much light, but I chose dark grey and I love it. This was just before it was finished off.

I have a tiny ensue with no window. Painted it dark purple, using a bathroom paint so it has a sheen to it. Accessorised with crystal lightshade with casts rainbows down the walls. I love it!

If you look carefully, you'll notice most dark small bathrooms on pinterest actually have a huge window. I'd go for opulence / reflecting surfaces

I think the metro tiles will look odd - I like them and really wanted them but having seen a bathroom with them I think they look awful

In a small space you need large tiles

Look up, grey linear tiles - I would work better with the black

Ooh that is nice polter! Very luxurious looking colour, and that seems to work perfectly well with regular grey floor tiles and white wall tiles and lift them up. I am actually quite tickled by the notion that my taste is uber-tacky Bluntness because I think of myself as very staid and boring Grin, love the middle of your pictures. I suppose I was thinking of something like this but with the colours the other way round (ie. the tiles white, the wall black):

It's not a Victorian flat though so I can't go overboard on the luxury/period-type elements it's true.

My feeling is that bathrooms are perfect for a bit of drama or frivolity.

Gah, embedding doesn't work then:
