What colour windows?

Hi everyone - planning on replacing current dark brown UPVC (which I really don't like!) with new windows in a different colour but have all the design flair of a gnat and scared of spending £kk and then hating it. Please oh wise ones tell me what colour windows & front door would look best on this property? Am open to anything and no need to blend in with neighbours as every house on the street is completely different.
Thank you Flowers

What colour windows?

I like white window frames , the mid brown 'oaky' colour looks a bit fake to me. Dark brown makes a house look sad , as in unhappy. The new grey colour looks ok on a modern house.

Are you going for upvc or wood ?

With your style of house I think a nice pale olivey colour.

It's quite cottagey looking but I'd worry a green could date before the windows need replacing. I'd go for light oak or white or maybe cream/ivory if it doesn't just look discoloured. You don't have to have the same colour inside so if don't already have white inside it could make a huge difference to make that change.

thanks for the replies - we will be going for upvc yes. I did consider white but a bit worried that it would just look a bit "bland" against the rendered white wall downstairs? They are dark brown inside at the moment which I think is why I dislike them so much - it makes the rooms feel so dark and oppressive. Just googling pictures of olive and light oak and I really like them both so that's 2 options I can consider Smile - DH quite likes the idea of dark grey "industrial" style ones but I'm worried it won't go with the house ie too modern looking?

If we went for light oak do you think we'd have to replace the dark wood cladding around the front door? Does anyone have window frames in this colour and are you happy you chose them?

You could paint the cladding a different colour perhaps? I didn't notice the cladding until you mentioned it. If you find it is a bit dark inside, you could just have plain glass without the leading too.

Just repainting our house with similar window colour but wooden and dormer windows. The primer has just gone on grey which looks very different but a little cold. The actual colour will be farrow and ball matchstick, a cotton colour so definitely not white but not a yellowy cottage cream either.
