After saving for years, have just had a lovely wooden kitchen installed. We wanted granite tops so got a separate company in to install and a young man came Monday with laser thing and measured up. Hubby showed him the bridge taps (requiring two holes for installation) we'd bought from the kitchen company and said we wanted them centralized over the belfast sink. They did a design which said about overhangs, colour etc. They came back to install today and the eldest workman cut one hole in the centre for the taps and hubby said "But we're having bridge taps". The youngest one who'd come with the laser thing said "yeah that's wrong, they've got bridge taps". The eldest one said that the cuts for those type of taps should have been done in the workshop and that he should have put that on the drawing. Eldest one then went and phoned the office and company said to continue as they'd stuck the worktop on by that point. I didn't understand why they continued as I thought they'd have to come back with another piece another day. Anyway, the company phoned for payment shortly after they'd gone and when I asked whether they knew the workmen had done it wrong they said "no" and said they would ring me back. When they rang back they said that as my husband had said he wanted the tap in the centre it was his fault!!! And that they had marked off where the taps were going (they hadn't as they would have had to have drawn on the kitchen units which they hadn't plus there is no mention any taps on the drawing).
I am disappointed that I can't have the taps I had chosen and will have to buy a mono tap for the damn hole. But AIBU to expect the company to knock off the money we spent on the taps from the bill being that we can't get a refund?
