Builder recommendation Nantwich plus q about pets

Hello,

We are buying a wreck around Nantwich. We know already that it will need rewiring, central heating, windows, plaster, possibly roof etc. We also plan to do a 2 storey extension. Would love recommendations for a builder in the area - we have done a project ourselves before (but not close enough to use same people) and managed the trades ourselves but think we would prefer someone to manage it for us this time.

Secondly, a question to anyone! We have 2 pets. Bit highly strung/scaredy. We lived in a rental for the last renovation so they weren't exposed to any of it. We are trying to decide whether it's possibly to live in the house through the work (no kids), to move out only for a short period, or to just give up and move out for months. I know I'm a soppy mare but I worry about how stressful it would be for the pets, plus the fact they would need to be shut in different rooms presumably, as the work progresses. However, constantly moving would probably stress them out too...

Just to answer the pet bit! I was really worried about my cat but he seems to have enjoyed it!
One day he got left outside in the rain because the builders had arrived & he was too scared to come past them. After that he would take himself off to my bedroom about 15 mins before they arrived!
He loves the inspection of the changes at the end of the day, he's been great!

Re the builder, have you tried posting in MN Cheshire OP?

No advice on builders but I stressed about my dog during the extension work going on. He's loved it, they make a fuss of him, share their sandwiches with him and when he's had enough he goes off and finds a comfortable spot to sleep in. He's probably happier with them coming and going than being on his own in the house!

Banana funny isn't it! My cat was really out of sorts before we started & he's really perked up!
I've come to the conclusion he was bored witless! Grin

One of them would probably be OK, in fact the worry is more that she would charm/bully the builders into spending all day stroking and feeding her, plus she'd go to sleep on some vital bit of kit and refuse to move. The other is petrified of everything, even me if I wear high heels or a big winter coat... And actually the first cat used to pull her own fur out with stress when we first rescued her. That's a long time ago now but I am such a worrier about them.

I haven't posted in MN Cheshire, no, that's a good shout. I've just watched some programme about extensions where both couples lost money... why oh why don't we just buy something where we can shake out a couple of rugs and move straight in!
