So I'm looking for a little bit of help.. I have applied for a council house in my local area.... Now I may be wrong but I got the impression they would decide , alongside your points and living condirions, what type of person you are and also what your current property condition is? For instance.... If they come and do a house visit and you live in complete squaler they would offer you a less attractive area? Does anyone else get this impression or is it just me ? TIA

I've never heard of a home visit? You're just able to bid based on what your eligible for in any of the areas your eligible for then its decided based on the person with the highest band or points etc..

Utter nonsense.

They put you in a band according to your needs.

Need and availability would be main criteria. HA may be a bit more picky about who and history.

Social Landlords can't pick and choose tenants. Social housing is allocated on the basis of greatest need.

Although some HAs may apply additional conditions, like an affordability test/credit check for example

Council housing is definitely not allocated by the character of person you are or your level of cleanliness.
It's done purely on a need basis the more in need you are the more points you have.
