Where can I move to?

I'm currently living near Romford. I'd like to move away from this area due to various reasons the main one being there isn't a decent selection of secondary schools for my son in the future (think inadequate and requires improvement). I also want a bigger house and basically get more for my money. I'm willing to move out of London, but would like to be at least an hours drive from East London (weekends only).
The budget is around £400000, minimum 4 beds and must have some good choices for secondary school ( not necessarily grammar schools).
Can anyone please suggest some places.
Thanks

Kent? V easy to drive to East London on the A2/Blackwall Tunnel. Somewhere like Bexleyheath/Swanley/Orpington. Schools generally good although Kent/Bexley have a grammar school system. £400,000 should get you a 4 bed just about.

Chelmsford area has plenty of houses for that budget.
