Cupboard in Alcove to put TV on

I would like to get a cupboard in alcove to put TV on just like the one in this picture:

What do you call that cover for a cupboard that sort of wooden mesh style?....I believe remote controls can still operate devices through that door.

I would like the shelves as well. I think I can manage the shelves my self but not the cupboard. Would a cupboard from Jali work....something like the one in attached pic in the attached picture which is just under £350...is that good value compared to a local joiner?

Any other companies out there like Jali?

The panels are fretwork and you may also see them called a grille.

I was just about to recommend Jali !

ah good, this looks like a goer. I was surprised that they don't have anything clearly designed for cupboard below a TV - this was just from their cupboard section - that grille will still enable me to operate remote controlled gadgets won't it?

I want the doors to open centrally of course but I assume that is just up to me when it comes which end I put the hinges on?

If this is sealed to the wall with a solid plinth at the bottom it effectively seals off the area underneath which is carpeted. Would I just leave the carpet there or cut it out.....I always worry about mould or insects and stuff but maybe just me being unduly concerned.

that looks like a radiator cover to me.

Bit of a fad.

yeah, any way that with a solid door I could get the remote controlled devices to work, if so then I would go for a solid door and I would rather have a door than having no door and it all open.

We put in an alcove cupboard from Jali and love it. We had a shelf installed a sky box height above the cupboard to put the tv box and DVD player on the top of the cupboard, so we can use those still. But they are hidden in the shadow between the unit and shelf if that makes sense.

ah! makes perfect sense. great idea!
