Carpet supplier - why measure up then put join in carpet!!!

I'm fuming. Last week had son's bedroom carpetted. No joins.

My bedroom was done this morning by another fitter as well as box room, landing and stairs. My room is 4.08m x 3.30m, similar size to son's room (4.24 x 3.12) and now when vacuuming have found a join in the alcove over the stairs.

I measured up and carpet retailer sent someone round to measure up who agreed with my measurements. Carpet is 4m wide. So why haven't they supplied long enough piece of carpet! The fitter didn't tell me he joined it either and the join is where the legs of wardrobe will be. I can see that coming apart quite easily when moving the wardrobe for cleaning behind it (which I may do once in a blue moon). But still. AIBU?

Who cleans behind wardrobes?!

It would have cost more to have no join and you'd be paying for an extra 3.5m metres of carpet, most of which wouldn't be used. I appreciate it's annoying but did the quote not state the measurements of the carpet being ordered? If you said you wanted no joins then you've every right to be annoyed and they've gone against your wishes.

Who cleans behind wardrobes?!

I had a ndn who would spend 2-3 hours a day vacuuming (from 6 a.m. onward) and I could hear her dragging all her wardrobes, beds, sofas out to vacuum behind them. Every. Single. Day.

She clearly was not well.
