Tenancy deposit refund

We left a rental property nearly 2 weeks ago and the letting agent that manages the property has heard nothing from the landlord regarding return of our deposit. Is there a timescale that needs to be adhered to? We could obviously do with the money being returned sooner rather than later. We know the landlord will make deductions from the deposit as that is what he is like. They have been a nightmare from start to finish and we are so glad we have moved. One of the issues has been that the landlord broke the tenancy contract. There was a facility in the house that was advertised as working when we rented and the contract states this should have been up and running. It was never useable the whole time we were there despite scores of emails. Is this a separate issue to the deposit or can we go through channels to get our full deposit refunded because of the break in tenancy agreement? Hope this makes sense

It's supposed to be returned within ten days. Contact the deposit scheme for advice.

Get in touch with the scheme concerned. If deposit not protected, sue for up to three times its value . there is no defence.
