Hi All, I hope all are doing great.
Buying a house is really a tense process and especially when you stuck in a chain although I am first time buyer however I've just heard from solicitors that contracts have been exchanged. Completion date is next Tuesday - 8th August.
Do you think of any hurdle left now in the process before we get keys smile

Thanks

Ooh - exciting!

Book broadband installation and movers. Sort out mail redirection now - it takes several days to set up. Make a list of everyone you need to contact with your new address. Don't forget TV licensing and council tax.

Insure the new place from yesterday.

Thanks for your input.

Completion date is next Tuesday - 8th August so the insurance will start on that day.

No @saqib - you need to insure from exchange. If the place burns down between now and completion, you'll still have to pay the purchase price and then you'll have to pay to rebuild it. You must insure it yourself. Check with your solicitor as they may have arranged insurance via your mortgage company, but that is likely to be more expensive than anything you arrange yourself.

@wowfudge, thanks for correcting me... I will make sure to change it ASAP.
