UK - Dream locations to buy

Turvey94 · 31/07/2017 23:54

If you had £2m and could buy 4 properties in the UK, where would you buy?

DM and I were discussing this and found it funny how similar our locations were! Grin

Me:

Cottage in Lake District
Cottage in Cornwall
Flat in London
Flat in Edinburgh

Well I would need more than 2m but these are my dream properties

Manor House in the country ideally Somerset
Flat in Clifton, bristol
A small cottage by the sea in Cornwall
A house/cottage in the middle of nowhere with absolutely no neighbours or noise from any other human being haha

HipsterHunter · 01/08/2017 12:54

Can we up the budget?

Neutrogena · 01/08/2017 13:18

No Hipster. Stick to the original parameters.

Time40 · 01/08/2017 13:43

Why four? Wouldn't two be better?

A flat in London, and a house on the South coast on in Pembrokeshire

Crumbelina · 01/08/2017 13:49

I'd like a house in Richmond (Surrey). Maybe on the hill or just off the green, but my hypothetical £2m wouldn't stretch to it!

HipsterHunter · 01/08/2017 14:18

@Neutrogena aw well in that case....

I'll spend £1.2m on a 2 bed flat in Hoxton.

With my remaining £800k I will have something in the New Forest, something in the Dark Peak and something in the cotswalds.

I've decided stamp duty is excluded from the budget :-)

Eryri1981 · 01/08/2017 14:49

Extend my current cottage in Snowdonia, give up work and live off the rest of the money. Renting holiday let's and hotels where ever else I wanted to go.
Second (3rd and 4th) homes ruin communities !

Turvey94 · 01/08/2017 16:58

Haha, yes we'll pretend stamp duty doesn't exist! Grin

Ah, how lovely you have a cottage in Snowdonia Eryi - beautiful area. Claimed Glyder Fawr last month !

Tricky one, probably Cotswolds, Wales, Lake District, Cornwall

specialsubject · 01/08/2017 20:27

You lot love the rain, don't you?

I'd go for one of the posh bits on the south coast, somewhere in leafy quiet surrey, somewhere on the west wales coast and that London flat.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 01/08/2017 20:38

Where is the £2m OP?? As you can see, I clearly need it!

Dontlaugh · 01/08/2017 21:15

Not to nitpick pieceofpurplesky but your place has no mooring which I find strange given the location and mention of "mooring opportunities" - sounds like ask the neighbour to me. That'd be some parking thread though, wouldn't it?!

Turvey94 · 01/08/2017 21:52

I think this is part of reason why London is so expensive - everyone wants in Sad Grin

Turvey94 · 01/08/2017 22:05

GPlan Oh my goodness, all those properties are beautiful!

I want that cottage in Bristol !! Shock Sad

Haha, I think we should make a pact - if either of us get £4m it's getting split on dream properties Wink Grin Grin

I would buy this
Lumsdale House, Upper Lumsdale, Matlock, Derbyshire, DE4
www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-34747416.html

And save the rest for hotels so I can visit different places

pieceofpurplesky · 01/08/2017 22:37

Don't laugh -
All th houses along there have mooring. I would have some spare cash out of the two million to build one, a boat house and but a boat! Grin

Dontlaugh · 02/08/2017 20:37

Well then, I'll sleep well knowing you'll have somewhere for the yacht!
