Lots of drawer space in kitchen

New kitchen in house we're buying has lots of drawers. Not deep saucepan type ones though. Would I be nuts to keep small glasses and mugs in a couple of them? It would mean dc could reach and get their own drinks so seems sensible to me but I've never met anyone who doesn't use cupboards for these items. I currently only have 4 drawers so can't think how I can usefully use an additional 8.

Yes to mugs in drawers. My plates live in a drawer as well - they are more practical than cupboards.
Can you change some of the drawers around for deeper ones?

Unlikely as I'm assuming it's the kitchen that came with the house so about 11 years old. Might eventually change the kitchen but it'll do for a couple of years.
