relocation help!

Hi, I am thinking of relocating from freezing cold Scotland, possibly to East Sussex/Kent, but just don't know where to start....criteria is;
2.5hrs from London (both kids at Uni there)
15mins from the coast
Detached and semi-rural
Anyone have any idea where to start...

Henfield, Uckfield, Balcombe ? 2.5hrs from London covers pretty much all of Kent and Sussex.

What about the New Forest? No Southern Rail horror! Or West Sussex, look at Midhurst/Petworth Area.
