Buying house with annexe

I have read conflicting things on this.

The house is split into 2. There are 2 entrances, but there is no permanent divide. You can freely walk from the main house to the annexe. Each pays separate council tax though.

I will need to either port my mortgage or get a let to buy mortgage if I can. Will I be able to do either of those things on this type of property? Thanks in advance if you know the answer.

Are you buying or selling? You could take the kitchen out and then it would be classed as one big house maybe?

We had an annexe in our property for DFIL and it was separate. When he died we knocked an entrance through, got rid of the kitchenette and got it classed as one property again. It did mean our council tax went up a band though and we still have two water bills and two electricity bills which is a pain but we will sort the latter out soon. We use it for guests/playroom.
