We are considering moving to Abingdon. Neither of us is from anywhere near there so any views on how nice or not it is would be most welcome.

Abington or Abingdon? Two different places.

PickledPlums · 21/07/2017 13:40

Sorry Abingdon, outside Oxford.

There are some pretty bits, abbey meadows and the river, but the shopping/infrastructure is pretty rubbish, so you need to go to Oxford for lots of stuff, or maybe didcot. There are some less desirable parts on the big estates, and it's all fairly expensive, but not a bad place. No train station though, which is a bit of a pain. Villages nearby are nice. Get more for your money in didcot but it's a bit soulless.

I would say Didcot has more on offer than Abingdon. More shops etc with a new development under way in the town centre too. Didcot also has the benefit of the train station too.
