Presently varnished mahogany wood. Irritating me to death. Which floor can withstand clumsy kids and adults? I don't want to be too precious but also don't want something that is going to look shit after 5 minutes. Help!

We have Quickstep laminate flooring in White oak, Bevelled edges and ends on planks. It's been down 5 years and copes with 2 boys and nut DH. It's had bikes and scooters ridden on it and is very easy to keep clean. I always thought laminate would be horrible. If I had the money I'd have oak blocks, laid herringbone and sanded and sealed, but the budget wouldn't stretch that far

Ceramic tiles have lasted well. Take everything that's thrown at them.

Have you got a picture OP? Sounds nice varnished mahogany. What about painting it.

We have bamboo. It's been down 10 years and looks as good as new.
