Aluclad Windows- worth the money?

I'm building a new build, it's ordinary, not some beautiful piece of design, but obviously I want it to look as good as possible.
Is aluclad worth the extra money?
Is it as good as PVC? Do people choose it just for its looks?
We're getting quotes basically of aluclad being twice the price of PVC.
I like the look of grey aluclad but I do realize that it's very 2017, or for all I know it's probably very 2015! So I don't even know how to go about choosing the colour...
I'm hoping for some aluclad fans/ critics to fill me in...

Yes, ally clad usually has a longer expected life. And you'd expect better quality in general because you're paying more.

I wonder if it's worth the money if you have the money,
But not worth it if you don't?

Well if you don't have the money it doesn't matter if they're worth. With house stuff we go for the best we can afford if it's part of the house, if it's just decorative eg flooring we know we can just change it in future. If funds were tighter we would still focus on the windows but not at the expense of eg eating and paying the gas bill!
