What did you look for in your integrated ovens?

Not literally of course- I mean, what features are/ would have been important to you?
We've got to pick all new appliances for our new kitchen. Have decided on an oven with a separate combi oven, plus warmer drawer. But there are so many functions one can get these days and I don't know what I need! Also no idea re brands.
Do share your recommendations! All I know is I want a digital display for the temperature! Thanks x

Telescopic shelves are really helpful.

Itscurtainsforyou · 20/07/2017 10:19

Self-clean function - it's changed my life!

Plus timer so you can set it to come on when you're out.

YorkshireTea86 · 20/07/2017 10:27

I'm looking at the minute. On my list is
Pyrolytic cleaning
Telescopic shelves
Pizza/base heating.
Pop in /out dials.

SleepFreeZone · 20/07/2017 10:33

Pyrolytic cleaning.

picklemepopcorn · 20/07/2017 11:30

Dream list...
Pyrolitic
Telescoping shelves
Hideaway door.

picklemepopcorn · 20/07/2017 11:31

Timer/ automatic function. I use it all the time.

Tatlerer · 20/07/2017 12:33

Thanks all. The cleaning functions and telescopic shelves look amazing. I love the look of a slide away door but room isn't an issue thankfully so I can live without that if needs be (the oven will be at eye level). I should have added- I'm no cooking enthusiast so think this steam injection/built in temperature probe gizmos will be a bit lost on me!

Internal size was important to me, they vary a surprising amount and I often cook large quantities on multiple shelves.

Self cleaning -check how many internal surfaces have the coating. No point imo if eg only the 2 sides.

Tatlerer · 20/07/2017 13:13

Thanks nemno, great point re the internal size- I would have assumed them all to be the same!

Telescopic oven shelves are fantastic.

YorkshireTea86 · 20/07/2017 14:29

I don't think the sides thing applies to pyrolytic, only catalytic.

I have two ovens plus a combi microwave. 2nd oven much more versatile than a warming drawer. One single just isn't big enough. Hide away door just isn't necessary but the telescopic shelves are great. One oven is self clean and the other isn't. Can't say I'm that bothered one way or another. Auto turn on and off, well built and solid are more important. Good solid inner shelves and decent controls. I have touch controls on my induction hob and they work very well. Ovens are also partially touch control.

nemno · 20/07/2017 19:27

I was really tempted by the telescopic shelves but the Bosch I chose had them only as a 3 rack option whereas the conventional shelves are 5 levels. I've had it 6 months and I do use all 5 levels. Just something to consider too.

The pop out controls have turned out to be surprising useful for cleaning in one swipe rather than failing to get the bastard stainless steel smear-free around the knobs.

I do have a warming drawer and have decided it is only worth using if I am doing a dinner party/Christmas type dinner (when it is great). My second oven warms plates much quicker, as does my microwave with those silicone inserts between plates.

Tatlerer · 20/07/2017 19:40

Thanks all.
I think I'm going to have to stick to just one oven (plus the combi) as I don't want to sacrifice any more space (and am presuming the warmer drawer takes up much less room?). Mind you, design has yet to be finalised.

Have a look at Neff. Their ovens are fantastic and internally are good sized. I have a slide and hide, pyrolitic with steam option. Sited next to it is a combi pyrolitic with a warming drawer underneath. There's only 2 of us, but we use all of the options. Also telescopic rails and easy to use.

Tatlerer · 20/07/2017 21:31

Thanks bouncy! We've had neff ovens before (never chosen, but in the flats/houses we've bought) and we've always got on well with them. There's only 3 of us so I think 2 ovens will suffice (although perhaps not at Christmas, which I'll be expected to host forever more after this renovation is complete...)

Bare in mind, Bosch, Neff and Siemens are all the same company so you can map a lot of the options across - Slide & Hide is a Neff only thing though.

Helpful if you prefer the look of one over another.
Also just be careful making sure that when you order, you check the year of production - there are combi's wandering around that look similar style but the clocks are a different colour (my OCD exploded even though I fitted them just to sell the house ;) )

Tatlerer · 21/07/2017 07:33

Gah Buckingham, that would drive me nuts!! Thanks for that gem!
