Dartford/Sevenoaks/Tonbridge

Hiya,

I posted a while back asking for area suggestions as I'm moving down South. It's now been narrowed down to Tonbridge, Sevenoaks or Dartford. My question is Dartford really that bad? OH wants a direct commute under 50mins straight to Charing Cross, which they all offer but there seems to be more for your money rent wise in Dartford but is that due to it being a dodgy area?

Thanks :)

In a word, yes. Dartford is less desirable than Sevenoaks or Tonbridge due to many reasons and this is reflected in house prices. Some parts of Tonbridge are nicer than others again. Depends on your requirements and your budget but there are plenty of other west Kent mainland station villages and towns to look at too.

Thanks Cujo! Can you suggest any? OH wants direct to Charing Cross with no changes within 50mins. Our budget is £1500 pm, we have a separate budget for the train.

There are some nicer areas around Dartford if you want to be in the vicinity, like Wilmington, Eynsford and Farningham. If I remember correctly, the journey from Farningham Road is the quickest. Also worth considering the train fares, which vary considerably as Dartford is within the Oyster zone. Sevenoaks is the nicest area in my opinion, but you pay for it.
