Do they usually take forever or should i be concerned? We had a mortgage agreed in principe before we started looking. Now it's with the underwriters and it's been over a week. Can't arrange survey etc until it's approved and EA is hinting that we are holding up the chain.

Hmm who is it with? We are with Barclays, we had our mortgage formally confirmed subject to valuation 2 days after we got the agreement in principle.

It did then take them 2 weeks to send in their surveyor, but the valuation was done on Monday and on Tuesday our IFA got confirmation we were fully approved - have you gone direct to the lender or through an IFA?

Ema In my experience the mortgage has been quickly authorised. I accepted my buyers offer 2 weeks ago Monday and they had their survey done this Monday.

The house I am buying was the same and the lender (YBS) even text me the same afternoon the survey was done to say my mortgage was approved. Which lender are you using and are there any added complications to your application like being self employed etc?

Its a hideously stressful time isnt it?!
