Colour scheme for redecoration

Hi all, medium size terraced Victorian. I am struggling to finalise the colour scheme for the walls. I wanted to go with grey walls, but not sure about it as it may make the place look dark and small. Teal and blue have crossed my mind too but not sure..... Please help me.

Go on pinterest and search for interiors.
You will probably get some inspiration there

Apparently grey is the new magnolia. Pick the right shade and it won't look dark at all.

Thank you for your replies. I have been looking at Pinterest and it has confused me even more, because I don't know how to pull things together in terms of mixing and matching accessories. I don't want to replace major things like curtains and carpets..... I need to find a colour that compliments the pre-existing stuff.

Kevin McCloud's book Choosing Colours is excellent. It really helps with deciding what shades work together.

Could you go for a lighter grey? Our victorian terrace lounge is northfacing and we have Dulux Goose Down on three walls (chimney/alcoves, and each side wall), then a dark charcoal grey on the wall opposite the chimney breast. Our sofa is against it so when we are sat down we only see the lighter grey. We then have mustard lampshades.

Starting with what you already own is the best way to do it. Farrow & Ball's decorating books can be good - if you're stuck you can sometimes find furnishings similar to yours and copy the colour scheme! I have the Kevin McCloud book as well but haven't looked at it on years. I seem to recall I found it rather confusing but that's probably just me Smile.
