Best white paint for interior woodwork

I have a whole load of woodwork (skirting boards, doors, window ledges) to paint in our house now the extension is almost done. Some of it is bare wood, some primed, some already has gloss on but needs refreshing.

I am so confused about what paint to buy. I don't want it to go yellow, so does that mean I should avoid gloss? Any advice on which brand?

For the bare wood, I believe I need to put knotting primer on first, then undercoat then topcoat? For the already painted wood, I guess I just sand it and then apply topcoat?

The top coat I like is Farrow and Ball interior woodwork eggshell. It has a flat finish and is easy to apply. It does not go yellow and is hard wearing. Yes to rubbing down, priming and undercoating all surfaces including ones that are gloss. The colour I like is Wimborne White. Others are available!!!

The best primer and undercoat I've found is zinnser 123. It's not cheap but it dries very quickly and costs well. We've used Johnstons white eggshell for the woodwork which seems good.

What colour walls are you intending to go for ? For a simple look- that doesn't yellow -paint your walls white or pale colour and paint your skirting, architrave and doors in a warm neutral colour like Charlestown Gray

Thanks I'll look up those products. Our walls are off-white eg Dulux Jasmine white. They all have a bit of a cream tinge to them.

Sorry, just to check, does Zinsser 123 work as both a primer and undercoat? It looks ideal as doesn't require any sanding.

We always use farrow and Ball's 'pointing' for all our woodwork. It's not too stark a white so works well with ever colour we've used.

Johnstones white eggshell as white gloss paints no longer have the chemicals in them which previously allowed white to stay white.

Yes zinsser works as a primer and undercoat, it's brilliant!

Oil based paints tend to yellow over time as the solvents originally used to keep them white can no longer be used.

I've used Dulux Satinwood water based for interior woodwork - it was recommended by a painter and decorator. It goes on well and so far has stayed white.
