Been moved 3 years. Have no connection with house we used to live in. Sorting out our paperwork and I've come across everything from buying contracts (2002), deeds, searches, mortgages etc.

What can I get rid of?

Providing you are sure you are no longer registered as the owners with the Land Registry, you can bin the lot.

I binned everything except the property particulars because that was a nice memento type thing.

I think if you have got old originals of deeds, it might be nice to forward these to the current owner for safe-keeping, otherwise you can bin the lot.

Agree with Spickle. If the deeds are really old, you could sell them on ebay. Grin

They'll only be 30 years max. The people who bought it from us who were bastards have an email sold it again.

A few years after we moved in, the vendor sent me a big pile of this kind of information. It's been very useful to have as it relates to many fittings that we still have (e.g. we were able to order a replacement hinge for the shower door because we knew the model number). I would suggest posting it on.

I had kept the papers from my last two homes :) As I'm supposed to be downsizing, I scanned them using the Scannable app on my ipad, it's just like taking a photo of them but the app is designed to look for documents. It's really quick. You just have to remember to then save the images in your permanent storage space, either a hard drive or the cloud, as the app only keeps images for a short time, 30 days I think. I then binned almost everything though I also kept the original sales particulars as a memento!
