Waiting to exchange

Thought we were going to exchange today but buyers solicitors have gone awol and not responding to any calls or emails.

It is just so so frustrating and another weekend of uncertainty.

Surely the entire house buying process should be reformed.

Another sacred solicitor who decides to bugger off on a Friday afternoon. Nothing to be done , sorry.

Dishwashersaurous · 16/06/2017 18:49

I know that there is nothing I can do. Just need to vent.

Roll on Monday and see if it can happen next week

OP, none of the solicitors I work with "bugger off on a Friday afternoon", they are busy with completions which take priority over exchanges.
Hope you get good news next week.

I can sympathise dish I hoped we would exchange last Monday but we are still sat here with no exchange. And I agree that the process needs to change. It just seems so antiquated. I completely understand that the queries need to be answered. That there are all the legal things that need sorting. But why can't the solicitors just pick up the phone and discuss? Why can't they have conference call to discuss dates? Why can't they push things through quicker? I honestly would be sacked if I treated my customers the way my solictor treats me.

I would probably vote even for the Greens or the BNP if they promised to overhaul the property market to bring it in line with Scotland or something similar. House buying is basically the Wild West. I loathe it.

Same here! And a solicitor who has "buggered off" is sometimes actually masking a client who can't be reached, or a bank that can't be got hold of... Doesn't make it any less stressful.

House buying is basically the Wild West. I loathe it. Sadly even in the wild west house buying is more like the Scottish system.

We've exchanged. Hurrah.

The process finally works
