Moving house dilemma!

Have found a buyer for our lovely (but too small) home, but struggling to find somewhere to move to. Have found a house in the perfect location, great size, but just doesn't give that fuzzy feeling when you walk through the door. In fact the drive up to it is really gloomy and the outside quite ugly and I'm struggling to get over it. WWYD?

Are there other houses that might give you the fuzzy feeling? E.g. we'd get the feeling from a detached Georgian or Regency house but they just don't exist in our chosen area so we settled for our current house and prettified it as much as possible.

Alternativel, could you sell and then rent whilst waiting for the right house to come up? As renters you'd be in a very strong position to buy.

It's such a restricted area (a few Cotswold villages) due to schools and work, that there are very few to choose from. Frustratingly there are plenty of beautiful houses but this is one of the few ugly ones without the period features and homely feel we've been spoilt with in our current home. I think it's very unlikely another house in our price range would come up again in this particular village (which is the only one within walking distance of a town). But I just don't love it and it's difficult to know if we'll be able to change that.
Renting is really pricey here, but will have to seriously consider it as the alternative option. Hadn't realised moving would be such an emotional rollercoaster!
