Do I need a new one?.......

Sorry, don't know the correct name for it but, there is a small inner cup that sits in the drain in the floor of my wet room.
I clean this out weekly and refill with clean water (and disinfectant).
Today I noticed that the cup has a crack in it.
Does this matter given that it is designed to overflow into the drain anyway, or do I need a new one for some reason I have no idea about?
If I do need a new one, where would I get one from?

it's used because you (usually) haven't got access to the trap underneath to get the hairs and toenails out.

You do need one.

If there is any sign of a brand name, you could get a new one to match.

If not, you might be lucky enough to find one matching.

Or send photos to Lunns, who have a very good range of spares.

I'm still using it Piglet John- it's just got a small crack at the top of it.
It's still functional as a hair and toenail collector - I just wondered if the crack mattered?
Also, what is it called?
Brand is AKW.
Can I buy just the inside bit or would I have to buy the whole drain/trap thing again?
It's only been in place for 6 months.

I don't know if you will be able to track down a replacement basket. Perhaps if you can track down the maker or importer.

I wonder if the crack will get worse

Can't you contact wherever/whoever supplied it and ask?
