Do Not buy these! I have just spent almost 3k on these worktops and they have 3 chips on the edges already. One big chip I noticed today after OH washed up a grill pan. I researched this product in great detail and never found a bad review on its durability. I am so incensed by what has happened I had to post on here. I wood like to sa anyone else from making the same mistake I did. 🙁

I chipped mine on the first day i had it - putting a big glass jar away. I am now really careful and don't let anyone else do the washing up! Such a pain. I just know it will get chipped again soon however careful we are.

We've got them, and had them in our last house and have found them really hard wearing and excellent and we haven't taken special care of them.. can you talk to whoever supplied them?

FlossieFrog · 12/06/2017 17:54

What is the shape of the edge? We were advised some shapes are harder to chip than others. Perhaps you could have the edges ground down a bit.

No problems with ours other than the templating being wrong so it had to be re-cut after fitting.

I'm surprised to hear this! We've had ours for years and they've been brilliant. We're genuinely not careful with them at all and still look like new. Looking at moving house just now and I would definitely go for Silestone again.

I'm surprised too - ours are brilliant!

I thought this was going to be a warning about destroying t shirt material tops 🤣 Love my work tops but do not love the holes they cause in my clothing!

I have one tiny chip where I dropped a stone pestle and mortar.
Other than that it looks perfect!

thenightsky · 13/06/2017 10:38

Mine looks fine.... no chips yet, but only had it 3 months. The fitter did warn us that a lot of people chip the edges when getting heavy pans out of the dishwasher as they catch the edge as they put the pan on the worktop without looking.

Had mine put in 2012 and no issues or problems. Would def have it again if I ever renovate another kitchen.
