Staircase

Currently doing a renovation, using dark wood flooring downstairs, plan on having an oak staircase with glass rails and grey carpet on the staircase itself

What i am asking is should one stain the oak bannister and handrails to match the flooring because the oak is much lighter than flooring

I painted ours white with a F and B interior eggshell. It is easier and looks modern in my view. Staining can be a bit hit or miss with colour matching.

I would just lacquer it, colour match isn't required, the grain will vary between the two anyway and distinguish them nicely. Painting an oak staircase is sacrilegious in my book!
