Show me your larder / pantry please!?

We're renovating our kitchen and DP is giving in to my begging going to build a pantry.

I can only find American looking houses on Pinterest with them though so I'm not sure exactly what I want...

Loads on Houzz just type in 'walk in larder' in photos

I am getting one too, and the same in the new utility room but mine will be corner pantries as I hate corner cupboards and this solves that issue.

We built an extension 2 years ago. Part of the deal was a pantry as we lived in Oz for a few years, and found it invaluable part of the kitchen. So we built one under the stairs . We had a cupboard there, but aesthetically it looked better being boxed in as a pantry.

Excuse the mess Blush

I am not at home to take photos but I will try and describe mine. It is a large cupboard, no windows. Four walls.

You open the door (towards you) and right in front of you in the middle is a tall freezer. Each side of the freezer is 4 foot high wine racks, on which we keep all bottles (so soft drinks, mixers etc as well as wine).

The shelves that run from the wine rack that is on the left towards the door are really narrow from waist height upwards. On those, I keep baskets of herbs and spices and empty jars that I keep for when I make chutneys and the like. On the wall space underneath those shelves are hooks for the shopping bags.

The shelves that run from the wine rack on the right towards you are deeper, and there are three of them. They are from waist height up, and they run the length of the pantry. I keep all food on them. The only food that we eat that is not in the pantry is in the fruit bowl, bread cupboard or in the fridge. Underneath the shelves are the recycling crates and wire racks for the veg and cans of soft drinks and mixers.

Thanks everyone - Long you've just reminded me that I need a spice rack to go on the wall / inside of the door!

Goody we looked at the wickes larder (it's AMAZING- you can literally stand in it with the doors closed) but we bought our kitchen from wren who only seem to do the tall pull out ones.

You can get the walk in pantry like wickes do from diy kitchens

But you can use it for inspiration. I intend to have essentially that design, but instead of it being a unit, I will have air bricks fitted in the corner of my kitchen, the corner then tiled and kitchen end-panels fixed floor-to-ceiling on either side to make the sidewalls. The door will also be supplied by the kitchen manufacturer, in two panels like the Wickes one.

The kitchen floor will extend into the larder. There will be shallow L-shaped shelves, a couple of which will be slate or marble for coolness. Possibly a tall, thin carousel unit in the very corner. Shelving will go up to the ceilings, but not down to the floor, because there will be space under the shelves for a vegetable trolley, a bottle rack and a step stool.

In my dreams. Maybe be next year...

This is mine. The kitchen is from DIY kitchens. Excuse the mess! There are 8 double sockets over two shelves so the microwave, toaster and DH's kitchen gadgets are hidden away.

Here's ours. Cupboard was already here when we moved in, and we had a carpenter put the shelves in. The ceiling slopes down towards the end, but you can stand in it quite comfortably.

The shelves on the biggest wall are cereal box width, whereas the shelves on the other two walls are only the width of a can of soup. Hope that makes sense.

Sorry for reviving a zombie but been desperately trying to find a pic of the corner larder that @thestoatisstoatallydifferent has got and here I've found one! Hooray! I'm guessing that @thestoatisstoatally different isn't posting much anymore but if you are around I'd love to pick your brains on this particular unit!! Thank you!
