Carpet or flooring in bedroom?

Im redoing my bedroom I'm erring towards floor in the bedroom just because I think it might be easier to keep clean in the long run and you can put a big rug down to soften it?
Does anyone think one or the other is better?

What is underneath the bedroom? Carpet muffles a lot of sound, much better than hard floor. Other than that I think it comes down to personal preference.

It's a flat so someone else is underneath but I'd make sure I put done a ton of sound proofing as I've loved underneath another flat before!
