Removal cost

Hoping to exchange shortly so I am in the process of arranging removal quotes.

We are going from 4-bed semi to similar sized 4 bed detached 2 miles down the road. We don't have a lot of 'stuff' so would think it would all be in the back of a lorry in 2hrs ish.

FYI we are 30 mins north of London.

How much was your move?

We moved furniture for my brothers one bed flat from Gloucester to Bath, and it was an eye watering £600. Hope you can get a better deal than that!

£800. From a three storey house though - loads of stairs. Also many, many boxes of books - weird how they look like nothing on a shelf but fill a box in ten seconds flat.

StressedMover · 31/05/2017 19:14

Our current house is a 3 story semi- so yes lots of stairs!

We really don't have much, we are far from minimalist but for example only 2 items are coming with us from the garden. As we have known for a while we weren't staying put we haven't replaced or upgraded anything.

Was hoping not much more than £1k mark but getting the feeling I'm way out Shock

We're downsizing from a 4 bed detached to a 2 bed semi 6 miles away and have obtained 6 removal quotes ranging from £540-£760.

Nevergrowingold · 31/05/2017 19:25

£600 for similar

Large 3 bed to a 5 bed less than mile apart has been quoted at £300 just for removals of 1 truck and 2 men. They charge min of 4 hours but think it will take 2/3. In Oxfordshire.

MissDuke · 01/06/2017 11:24

Ours charged £55 an hour which I thought was very reasonable given there were two men. They took 2 hours to pack up and same at the other end but we had a 2 hr delay inbetween with waiting on keys. They didn't charge the full amount for the time they were sat waiting. We were very pleased with them.

I used AnyVan to get quotes for removals for my last move which was 3bed to 3bed 300 miles. They provided packing materials and we packed. It was £750. That said they turned out to be cowboys, the guys were blatantly working unsafe hours and dropped our stuff off at 2am as they had a job the day of the move and another one next day! Poor guys.
This time I had quotes from Britannia, pickfords and some local companies, we've moved 450 miles and got a number of quotes. Full packing service including packing materials and it came to £2500- the price went up so much just cause it involved overnights.
The packing cost was about £180 - and would seriously recommend it. I packed up anything sensitive, went out for 5 or 6hrs and when I came home everything was done!

Princesspinkgirl · 01/06/2017 18:09

I paid £450 for a 3 bed to 3 bed

Kennethwasmyfriend · 01/06/2017 18:17

2 bed to 3 bed, few miles apart - £800. No packing but lots of boxes.

southwest1 · 01/06/2017 20:15

2 bed to 4 bed, 200 miles away, was £1800 plus the packing service. Was moving from London though more expensive anyway. Packing service was amazing, I went out and left them to it.
