Kitchen floor. Karndean, tiles or ?

What flooring do you have in your kitchen ?

Karndean or a ( hopefully cheaper but as good substitute )

Tiles ?

Laminate ?

And what colour / design to go with mid grey kitchen probably ( gloss or satin finish , not sure ) black granite probably work surface.

I can get that interested but have to choose so desugn me a scheme oh mumsnet !

I would go for ceramic. Probably a cream/beige non slip large format tile. Look at Porcelainosa for excellent ideas and tiles.

Not sure wood, laminate or the MN favourite of Karndean would work and avoid real stone as it takes a lot of effort to keep it pristine. This kitchen sounds modern so go with a modern floor.

We did up our last kitchen and laid down stunning limestone-absolutely beautiful BUT completely unforgiving. My 2 year old lost a tooth and chipped the other. Anything dropped smashes. In our new house (due to move in 2 months) we are going for Karndean in a stone look tile for the kitchen and oak look for the hall. I think a van goch range for the kitchen and knight tile(slightly cheaper range of karndean) for the entrance hallway. To have both fitted we have been quoted £1700 (large kitchen/diner)

I am going Karndean wood effect as think it will be more forgiving and easier to maintain. Needs to go through the entire downstairs and don't think ceramic or stone would work in a living room.

We have wood effect karndean and I love it. Our house is tiny so I wanted the same flooring throughout the whole downstairs to make it feel bigger. It needed to be waterproof for the kitchen and cosy enough for the living room. I'm not sure I'd bother with karndean if I could have just had tiles in the kitchen though.

We're putting in laminate; stuff that's suitable for kitchens and bathrooms from a splash/spillage point of view. But then again I've spent all our kitchen budget on other things that will please me more,so it was a budget option, but I think it'll look good and can be easily changed if it's not to someone else's taste or we feel like upgrading at a later date.

Oddly I adore tiled hallways but can't abide tiled floors in kitchens and bathrooms; more so kitchens. Makes it feel like a utility or outhouse to me, but personal taste :)

We have black tiles and I hate them with a fiery passion.

I want to swap them for Karndean (which we have in our bathroom and I love.

We were looking at flooring today and the salesman recommended Quick Step for the kitchen, it's a laminate bit waterproof. There are so many choices. We have 5 rooms to do. Karndean and Amtico look great and feel much better than the cheaper vinyls.

we had karndean put down 10 years ago. it was the only thing that could go down in hall cloakroom kitchen and conservatory . we went mid range. it still looks fine. the only downside is it was laid onto a screed on concrete and is cold in the winter

I had ceramic tiles in my old kitchen. They were laid straight onto concrete and they were so cold, even in the summer. In the winter, I could feel the heat being sucked out of my legs as I stood there.

Part of the problem was the kitchen jutted out from the rest of the house so had three outside walls, and it was north-facing.

This has led me down the path of underfloor heating.

My point is, tiles can look lovely, but only enhance the coldness of a cold room.

I'm having engineered wood in my new kitchen, but only because I don't have children. It's not a great surface for a lively family in the kitchen.

How do you clean kardean? I've just read I'd not be able to use my lovely steam cleaner 😩

This is mine - Cotswold black limestone. I adore it.
