OK last time I ask about kitchen design I promise! After posting last week, feedback on here about fridge being far away and stuff I've come up with an alternative plan. Breakfast bar is wanted for one where to cook and bake with kids, dining table doesn't get used for this sort of stuff. Dining table is also bigger than what we will be having.
Original plan with fridge on right. New plan fridge on left.

We love our breakfast bar and use it loads, just make sure you get some comfy, stable bar stools.

We looked at built under ovens but it's not really big enough. Plus I have a bad back so would prefer not to have to bens down all time.
We thought about getting an ikea stenstrop trolley and putting it against that blank bit of wall on the left, then we can pull it out when kids help with a couple of stools.

I would prefer the option which mostly obscures the boiler then, but take your DH's point about access for working on it and I do prefer the breakfast bar as a return rather than flat facing to the wall.

Really in an open kitchen space, safety should be a priority and the opportunities for collisions minimised.

The Ikea trolley seems like a good idea, with the proviso that no one starts using it as a dumping ground. No prizes for guessing why I thought of that Blush
