What would you ask for

The survey on the house we are buying highlighted wood worm. We had a specialist check the house be they have confirmed it is active. Advice is to treat all the floorboards throughout house. This requires carpets to be lifted/ replaced and the property to be empty for 48 hours.

because of this issue, we now need to pay for:
2 x removals days and storage (3x standard)
Accommodation for us
Carpet re-laying
The treatment itself

DH think we should say we'll pay for our accondation and split the rest 50:50. I fee this is quite generous, though, as we'll still be pay a couple of thousand, if not more. The work needs to be done, as it's a condition of our mortgage (& probably would be if anyone else's).

What would seem like a reasonable reduction to ask for in this situation? (Obviously, they could alternatively move out a couple of days earlier if they could do the removals and storage cheaper, but I wouldn't actually ask them to do so).

The cost of the treatment, your temporary accommodation and the carpet relaying? Start there are see what you can agree.

If you haven't moved in yet why do you need temporary accommodation?
