What goes with Moroccan floor tiles?

Other than white metro tiles, which is all I'm seeing in pictures online.

It's for a new bathroom. The floor is black and white Moroccan tiles. I like metro tiles but wouldn't ordinarily choose them in white. I have been searching online for ideas but am coming up with nothing.

I'd say any simple white tile- doesn't have to be rectangular but if you introduce another pattern I think you're going to lose the impact.

I have beigey grey (greige?!) flush metro tiles. Just so happened to match one of the colours in the Moroccan floor tiles we have. Am very pleased with it.

I think you have to go fairly neutral with a statement floor.

justdontevenfuckingstart · 14/05/2017 18:02

pic of floor?

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 14/05/2017 18:08

Agree with neutral and plain - you need the floor to be the focus. We have plain white shower board (rather than tile) and white sanitary wear so the floor really stands out. I love that patterned tiles are back in.

The floor is going to be these tiles:

We are also having the vanity unit and tall cupboard from this pic, but no bath just a walk in shower.

Would metro tiles this colour be too much?

Yes totally (is it all BCT?) don't put a riven tile with a honed. They clash in this case.

Chuckle17 · 14/05/2017 19:53

BCT?

Definitely a white tile. Maybe quite large ones or some unusual shape maybe like white hexgon (either the tiny mosaic ones or bigger ones) or I saw some nice rhombus shaped ones the other day. If you don't want white grout then use a very light grey instead. Not dark grey as it'll become too grid-like next to that floor.

Chuckle17 · 14/05/2017 22:26

Maybe it would look better if the floor tiles were grey rather than black?

The last set of tiles are too busy (also the stone ones look impossible to keep clean. The grey and white tile gives off a softer vibe that could work with the colored metro.

wowfudge · 15/05/2017 07:30

Actually I think the soft green would work and stop it looking too clinical. I do think that you need a simple, clean tile with straight edges and nothing with a rustic finish.

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 15/05/2017 07:49

Personally, although the green tile is gorgeous, I think it's too much with the Moroccan tiles. I found something similar on Pinterest (it's a larger tile rather than subway but green with a patterned floor). If white is too clinical, grey or black (or a combination) would also work (see second pic) but for me the plainer the walls the more the tiles can wow you.

Thanks everyone!

So do you all think the grey floor tiles nicer than the black?

OP posts:
TheGirlOnTheLanding · 15/05/2017 08:57

I like both so would pick based on what I preferred for the walls - dramatic black and white if going with white or black for the walls, softer grey if I preferred grey walls.

watchingitallagain · 15/05/2017 17:26

I like them both but forced to choose I'd pick the grey I think.

Chuckle17 · 16/05/2017 16:51

Just seen the grey ones in my local cafe Nero 😂

We have jazzy grey floor tiles like that and plain ones on the walls. Will post pics later

notbobmarley · 16/05/2017 16:55

We have the burnt orange version of the floor tiles same grey units and white metro on the walls. All looks lovely together.

notbobmarley · 16/05/2017 16:59

Also if you have a bit of wall that needs painting you could introduce colour there. A bit less commitment

Chuckle17 · 16/05/2017 17:27

Ooh yes please do post pics!

I'd go for the grey ones and then a pale grey flat metro tile.
