Decanting hair conditioner from one bottle to another. totally not putting the cheap stuff in the posh bottle to deceive dd HmmGrin

Both bottles are very rigid - not very squeezable
Both have exactly the same size neck
The hair conditioner is VERY thick

I've had the two bottles balanced on end neck-to-neck for a whole day but the conditioner is so thick it's not dropping down into the posh bottle. If I try to squeeze the stuff in, (necks touching) it's so thick the air can't move upwards from the lower bottle and it farts out of the join sideways - over me! How can I fill up this bastarding posh bottle with the cheaper stuff without having to resort to physically cutting open the cheaper bottle & spooning the stuff in?

I'm looking upon this as an engineering problem, Grin

Calpol syringe?

B1rdonawire · 10/05/2017 14:32

Funnel?

splodger · 10/05/2017 14:36

I did think of a funnel but the product is so thick. I guess the real question is how to get it all out of the 1st bottle as it isn't remotely runny.

What about a turkey baster.

ExplodedCloud · 10/05/2017 14:43

Funnel and put it somewhere warm?

LightYears · 10/05/2017 14:44

Or seal the 2 botle necks with tape then violently shake downwards.

BeyondThePage · 10/05/2017 14:46

Yep - would go with the calpol syringe thing. or a funnel - but put a straw down the funnel spout too, so you can jiggle the goop through.

You must be able to get it out of the bottle - or how do you do your hair with it?

Lid on and swing vigorously toward the floor a few times before trying.

wowfudge · 10/05/2017 15:23

Make a hole in the base of the bottle you are trying to empty with a skewer and blow into it.

Kokusai · 10/05/2017 15:45

Wowfudge has the best suggestion so far

wowfudge · 10/05/2017 15:47

Certainly has the most potential to be messy if it goes wrong. Don't inhale Grin

Floggingmolly · 10/05/2017 15:48

How do you get it out when you're actually using it?

magicstar1 · 10/05/2017 15:52

Mix a tiny bit of water in and give it a shake

Pardonwhatnow · 10/05/2017 15:58

Warm the conditioner by putting bottle in hot water.

Make a hole in the bottom of the bottle to let air in

RedSandYellowSand · 10/05/2017 16:05

Put it on one bottle, shut the lid, hold by the bottom and shake hard once or twice getting a sort of arc. The conditioner should all be at the top of the bottle to help it plop into the other bottle.

Has one bottle got a flip top lid? If so, do the above, then squeeze with the lid open, but be gentle until you get the angle right.

Ahem, well thank you all, I can happily report I've finished! For the record I was filling Loreal Elvive colour protect (£7) with Pantene colour protect (£2). The Pantene is VERY thick. It wouldn't pour through a funnel but could be poked through the funnel with a finger. In the end the easiest thing was to cut the Pantene in half with scissors & transfer one finger's scoop of product into the other bottle at a time. Doing it this way was fast but messy. Next time I'll have some freezer bags handy as someone else mentioned & try doing it that way. She'll never know.
