Piglet John.....can you help with a boiling water tap?

Pleeeeeease.

I'm having problems with the downstairs sockets tripping and I've narrowed down the hot water tap as the culprit.

It's an Insinkerator, 4 years old. Are these things worth getting replacement parts for or should I just replace the whole boiler section.

It's going to be expensive either way isn't it.

if it is tripping the RCD, I will guess that the heating element is degraded. This is fairly common with watery appliances, including kettles, tea urns and immersion heaters.

Maybe a replacement element can be fitted.

If it was expensive enough to consider a repair, ask the manufacturer or importer if they have a spares or repair service.

Electric showers, for example, are not usually worth repairing because a new one costs round about the same as a replacement heating can.

There is a chance that there is some other fault, such as a damaged cable or a water leak, but my money's on the heater.

You are fab and I'm really grateful for help.

I'll get on to the manufacturer today.

Many thanks.
