Kitchen extraction help

Currently kitchen extractor is integrated and vented outside along the top of the cupboards, hidden by cornice. New kitchen isn't having cornice and want a chimney extractor, so what's the best way to hide the venting? Originally thought to put a panel across the top between the wall cupboards either side (like picture) but not sure if you would still be able to see it without the cornice, so would it look odd if I used extra tall units and put a top box across the top of the hood to hide the venting?

if you run it on top of the wall cabinets, towards the wall, it will be difficult to see.

IMO tall wall units (up to ceiling) look very neat, although you might not be tall enough to get stuff off the top shelf.

It won't be right up to the ceiling they are 2.7m high and I'm only 5'4.
