Play shed - paint or stain

We have a garden play shed for our children. Two years ago we painted it pale green and white ( with exterior gloss ) and it started to flake off in less than 12 months .

A Painter friend suggested that we had done it while it was damp and to redo after a period of dry weather. So we did , and after 12 months it looks terrible.

So three questions please

  1. What are we doing wrong? None of our other external woodwork needs done every year.
  1. Should we stain instead of paint ?
  1. If so, who makes wood stain in pretty colours ( not brown or dark green ) ?

Thank you

Yes sea grass, not sea green. My mind wanders off. Confused

I don't know what other offers are around, but I see Screwfix and Wilkinsons have offers. You can order online for collection from store, or delivery.

Oh that's so pretty User ! It does look a lot like ours ( except yours is beautifully painted of course ) .

What green is that ? It's lovely with the pink .

And what did you use on the porch floor / deck ?

Do you have an upstairs BTW?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm back in my happy place of gushing over colours and ignoring tedious issues of undercoats and stains Blush

Haha, thanks. Pink is sweet pea, white is white daisy and I think green is fresh rosemary. I put left over fence paint on the decking bit but my fil says this is a bad idea...Seems ok so far. I think that's Cuprinol duckbak red cedar or something like that. Hope if you do go with the garden shades this year it works out better for you.
