Loft conversion Velux top hung or not?

So our view will be of the neighbour's roofs and their Velux's so not very exciting.
I'm considering top hung as we are both tall and don't want to hit our heads.
Most people seem to have central pivot.
Also any difference in the light coming in when they're open on summer nights as although we'll have black our blinds they seem redundant as soon as you open the windows!

Ours open both ways - from the top on one setting, and in the middle on another setting.

Mine are central hung. My only thought re top hung would be to check that you can clean them. Mine effectively turn inside out so I can clean the outside - and they do get dirty!

You can turn them 180degrees to clean yes.

Ours are top hung, specifically to keep head height clear and they work fine. We had central hung ones in our old house and i prefer top hung for keeping head height otherwise there's no real difference. We only open them a few inches at night during the summer which lets in enough of a breeze so light is not an issue.

Sorry, forgot to mention, our top hung ones are very easy to open as you have a window handle at the bottom whereas the central one we used to have you needed to grab the top rail which is a stretch if you're short and they tended to stick a little.

So ours are top hung, but they also open on a central pivot and rotate 180 degrees so you can clean them. Maybe the central pivot is just for cleaning rather than as an opening option....
