When to get a survey?

I have just had an offer accepted on a house. Should I get a survey now or wait until the seller finds a house and the chain is complete. The owner selling the house seems definite that he will move and wants to do so as soon as possible.

You can often save money by getting your survey done by your mortgage provider's surveyor. And they won't be doing that until you have been approved for your mortgage. So hang fire maybe ?

I'd wait a bit. Where I live people wait for months before they find somewhere to move. I'd get EA to find out intentions. Maybe they would go into rented?
