Weatherproofing a new shed door

Please can anyone who knows about these things advise me...

I'm having a handyman fit a new door to my little brick outhouse tomorrow.

Do I need to apply primer to the door straight away to avoid any weather damage or could it wait a few days?

I ask because the only outdoor primer I've found is in a tin that covers 11m2 and I only need 4m2 coverage max so don't really want to shell out for the big tin. My parents are visiting on Tuesday and have a tin of outdoor primer left over doing their garden bench etc.

I don't want to risk the door being damaged while it's waiting to be primed though...

It'll be fine till Tuesday.

HTH and enjoy your spandy-new door Smile
